Reuben Gold Thwaites was the assistant to Lyman Draper at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. Upon Draper’s death, his massive collections of manuscripts were bequeathed to the society and Thwaites consulted Draper’s notes and interviews on Daniel Boone for his biography.
